Brexit – Maintaining the supply route for our customers
Despite the on-going political discussions of the past three years, there has been little clarity regarding what the future holds for the UK and its role within Europe. Werfen UK carried out a risk analysis and identified the supply chain to customers as the biggest single risk for continuity of supply to our customers. Regular supply of product to customers is from our distribution centre in Roncello, Italy.
As this uncertainty poses a significant risk for Werfen operations primarily around possible disruptions at the UK Border, Werfen UK with the support of our Worldwide Supply Chain and IT teams have been diligently preparing for the United Kingdom’s eventual/expected/certain/succession from the EU for the past several months so that we can now deliver our products locally to any part of The UK.
Thanks to the hard work and collaboration of our employees, Werfen UK has successfully implemented a system to ensure that our company will continue to deliver its outstanding and reliable service in throughout the UK.
How did we do it?
To achieve this, the team converted our Werfen UK warehouse in Warrington (UK) to a fully operational facility. This conversion included installing a newly designed racking system and fridge facilities, negotiating with local transport suppliers, defining new processes, provisioning stock and preparing Werfen in the UK for this transition.
And on the 1st of November 2019 Werfen in the UK successfully began fulfilling orders and shipping to customers from this newly converted. Furthermore, going forward, most of the UK orders will be shipped from Warrington for as long as there remains a risk of delays at the border. With careful preparation and a robust European logistics network as a backup, Werfen’s stakeholders are assured that our level of service will remain excellent.
As uncertainty still surrounds the UK and Brexit, our teams are working on a long-term logistics solution to continue meeting Werfen UK customer needs, regardless of the outcome of this Brexit process.
Congratulations to all those involved for their outstanding efforts, commitment and passion for maintaining the high level of service that our customers demand and expect.
