Overview
Position Summary:
As a member of a commodity team, responsible for providing leadership, insight, guidance, and problem solving skills to all technical issues encountered by the team in the sourcing, manufacturing, and cost reduction activities of the assigned purchased or outsourced products/services.
Responsibilities
Key Accountabilities
Essential Functions:
- Determines key technical competencies required by IL's supply base and assists the supplier selection team in identifying appropriate global sources that excel in those competencies.
- Coordinates the life cycle maintenance of company owned tooling and fixtures at all supplier sites including start-up training, calibration, repair and replacement.
- Plays a key role in cost reduction activities by identifying waste in supplier's processes and providing lower cost alternatives that can be implemented.
- Assist the commodity team in target costing and negotiation preparation by educating the team on the key cost drivers of the products and/or services being procured.
- Helps to quickly identify the root cause of defects in purchased parts and insures that proposed supplier corrective action is effective.
- Has a thorough understanding of assigned commodities including manufacturing processes, applications, and cost drivers.
- Identifies alternative manufacturing processes that can improve product quality, reduce cost and lead-time

Skills & Capabilities:
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated computer literacy, expertise in reading schematics and mechanical drawings, working knowledge of ERP systems
Qualifications
Minimum Knowledge & Experience Required for the Position:
- BS degree in engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering of a technically complex electro-mechanical product.
- Demonstrated record of problem solving and cost reduction.
