Antiphospholipid Syndrome: Physician's Point of View
Antiphospholipid syndrome is an autoimmune thromboinflammatory disorder characterized by clinical and laboratory features. In this presentation, Dr. Branch will cover updates regarding this condition. These include a review of the recently-revised international classification criteria, a summary of a now completed treatment trial in antiphospholipid syndrome pregnancy, and a presentation of new findings regarding Anti-ß2 glycoprotein-I domain 1 (aD1) and anti-phosphatidylserine/prothrombin (aPS/PT) antiphospholipid antibodies.
Topics
- To understand the new antiphospholipid syndrome classification criteria and underlying rationale.
- To review treatment of antiphospholipid syndrome pregnancy and the results of a recently completed treatment trial.
- To learn about relatively new, “non-criteria” autoantibodies and their relationship to obstetric outcomes and lupus anticoagulant.
