About the Position

Overview

Job Summary

The Tax Accountant is responsible for supporting the US Group's indirect tax and business license reporting functions.

Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in the preparation and filing of indirect state and local tax returns and business personal property renditions.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly indirect tax account reconciliations.
  • Support indirect and internal tax audits through data gathering and audit schedule preparation.
  • Review use tax and sales tax debit/credit reports to support tax compliance process.
  • Update customer and material taxability tables in SAP.
  • Prepare business license renewals and process CSC vendor invoices for payment.
  • Prepare monthly Canadian input tax credit schedule.
  • Compile data to support annual Foreign Bank Account Reports and Foreign Information Returns.

Secondary Functions:

  • Upload tax compliance into Katalyst database.
  • Ad hoc projects as assigned to support direct taxation.

Networking/Key relationships

 

Accounting Department, Collections, Accounts Payable, Customer Service, Sales, IT

  • Regularly interacts with internal teams to collaborate or provide information. May work with ex­ternal contacts.
  • Coordinates activities to meet generally defined department objectives.

Qualifications

Minimum Knowledge & Experience for the position:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 1-3years' experience in a professional environment in an accounting/finance position.

Skills & Capabilities:

  • Working knowledge of platform based software; SAP skills preferred.
  • Technical knowledge necessary to perform spreadsheet analysis,
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proactive, problem solving approach.
  • Exercise occasional judgement to make tactical decisions. These decisions affect work product and ulti­mately impact strategic decisions.

Travel requirements:

Up to 5% travel.
