Job Summary

The System Support Technician is tasked with inspecting the functionality and accuracy of new Werfen laboratory systems/equipment. This testing is critical to the quality inspection of new systems to verify functionality and prepare instruments for commercialization. The System Support Technician will assist in resolving issues found during the testing and inspection of the equipment under the guidance of a System Support Manager. Works under the supervision of department management.  All activities are performed in accordance with standard operating procedures, the Quality Management System, safety and administrative policies and regulations.

 

This position is part time (20 hours or less/week) and time limited. Length of assignment may vary.

Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities

  • Performs all work in accordance with current standard operating procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WI) or standard work (SW), as applicable.
  • Unboxing, installing, and inspecting equipment on laboratory bench.
  • Performing quality inspection of laboratory equipment to include; interacting with hardware and software, loading reagents and controls, and basic troubshooting.
  • Complete Quality Inspection documentation to include system verification, failures report and regulatory controlled documentation.
  • Coordinating the resolution of any necessary repairs or adjustments to the equipment.
  • De-installation and re-boxing of equipment after quality inspection is complete.
  • Complies with applicable Werfen standard operating procedures (SOPs), ISO, FDA and other Quality System regulations, as well as applicable Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Human Resources and other regulatory and company policies.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Knowledge & Experience required for the position:

Education: 

  • Currently working or studying in the field of Biology, Chemistry, Electronics, Engineering, Bioengineering required.

Experience: 

  • Hands on experience with clinical or research lab equipment operation required.
  • Experience building, designing or operating laboratory instrumentation in a professional laboratory or classroom setting highly preferred.
  • Experience working with fluids, electronics, hardware and/or software preferred.

Management has the discretion of substituting relevant work experience for a degree and/or making exceptions to the years of experience requirement.

Skills & Capabilities:

Strong written and verbal documentation skills.

Able to work independently and coordinate with other team members.

Attention to detail, precision, and ability to follow procedures and specifications.

Quick learner and commitment to quality.

The salary range for this position is currently $20-$25/hr. Individual compensation is based on the candidate’s qualifications for the position, including experience, skills, knowledge, education, certifications, internal equity, budget and/or other business and organizational needs.
