Overview
Job Summary
The Manager of the Project Management Office (PMO) will be responsible for establishing, leading, and continuously developing the Project Management Office within North America Commercial Operations. This role will oversee the implementation and maturity of project management standards, governance frameworks, and processes while ensuring alignment with organizational goals in a highly regulated environment. In addition to driving PMO strategy, this role will be tactical-serving as the Project Manager on assigned projects, directly leading execution to ensure successful delivery. The Manager of PMO will provide leadership to project teams, manage the project portfolio, and act as a strategic partner to executive leadership.
Responsibilities
Key Accountabilities
- Establish and maintain the PMO's vision, mission, and objectives in alignment with organizational goals.
- Develop and implement project management frameworks, standards, methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid), and project oriented tools.
- Define the PMO's scope, services, and success metrics.
- Develop governance structures to ensure consistent project delivery and risk management.
- Create and enforce processes for project planning, escalation, execution, monitoring, risk mitigation and reporting.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Act as a key liaison between executive leadership and project teams, providing regular updates on project progress, risks, and strategic alignment.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to identify project needs, resolve issues, and drive decision-making.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure their continued support and engagement with PMO activities and project initiatives.
- Define, track and report PMO performance metrics. Producing project portfolio status reports and executive dashboards.
- Identify opportunities to streamline project management processes and implement best practices.
- Evaluate and adopt tools and technologies to improve project efficiency and visibility.
- Develop and execute project risk management strategies, including risk identification, mitigation, and contingency planning, to minimize project disruption and ensure successful delivery.

Qualifications
Minimum Knowledge & Experience for the position:
Education: Bachelor's degree in business, project management, or a related field, Master's Degree Preferred
Experience: Minimum 6 years of project management experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is required.
- Agile certifications (e.g., CSM, SAFe or PgMP) are preferred.
- Experience in Managing IT readiness projects in Healthcare/Hospital Integrated Networks preferred.
Management has the discretion of substituting relevant work experience for a degree and/or making exceptions to the years of experience requirement.
Skills & Capabilities:
- Strong knowledge of project and portfolio management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira, Asana, Smartsheet).
- Demonstrated ability to drive change, process improvements and cross-collaborate across other functional areas.
- Strong Stakeholder Management skills; identifying, engaging, and improving relationships with individuals or groups affected by a project or issue.
- Strong understanding of key change management principals and ability to apply and execute concepts for desired outcome.
- Highly accountable, strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to support and motivate team members.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities while driving results in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to cross-functionally work on projects that significantly impact the overall success of an organization.
- Extremely strong communication skills that can influence varying roles across the company.
- Ability to simplify complex project deliverables to drive on-time timelines.
- High level of emotional intelligence, business acumen, critical/strategic thinking and decision making.
- Demonstrated ability to lead advanced complexity (or greater) projects. Which involves high uncertainty, intricate interdependencies, and dynamic stakeholder demands; requiring adaptive planning, agile execution, and strong collaboration to manage risks and achieve strategic goals.
Travel requirements: Approximately 35% of overnight travel is required.
