Job Summary

Reporting to the Operations VP, the Director of Supply Chain (DoSC) is responsible for managing the flow of goods, services and information among OEM, suppliers and customers. The DoSC provides leadership to the planning, purchasing & procurement, warehousing, customer service and logistics teams and contributes to achieve the Operations Department three main goals: quality service to achieve high customer satisfaction; accurate cost management to enable business profitability; and internal & external stakeholder management to ensure lean processes across the company.

Key Accountabilities

• Maintains, in cooperation with the Production Director, the Production Plan based on demand forecasts, backorder levels and manufacturing capacity.

• Guarantees purchasing processes and schedules that support the Production Plan, R&D needs and other company processes.

• Qualifies suppliers and manages them to optimize their quality, dependability and cost levels.

• Assures, in cooperation with QRA, the inspection and quality control of incoming goods.

• Manages inventories of incoming goods, sub-assemblies and final products, guaranteeing their secure storage, traceability and reduced storage costs.

• Provides customers with quality service, fulfilling orders dependably and managing any incidents pro-actively.

• Manages shipments, transportation and distribution of goods in compliance with product requirements and international regulations.

• Interfaces with sales team to review production plans, inventory levels and to report sales.

• Defines and monitors supply chain metrics and reports them to management.

• Makes sure that all supply chain activities follow approved SOPs and are in compliance with the OEM Quality System.

• Ensures with team leaders that teams are adequately staffed and trained.

• Manages service contracts to guarantee all logistics facilities are maintained in clean and functional state.

• Supports Operations VP in preparing the Supply Chain Department budgets and controlling their execution.

• Identifies and leads process improvement and re-engineering opportunities in the areas of just-in-time & lean supply chain, ERP/MRP automation, etc.

• Collaborates with Controlling to maintain product information (PN, BoM, costs and prices) and updates SAP accordingly.

• Guarantees all the manufacturing documentation is always updated and aligned with customer requirements and the quality system.

• Participates in internal senior coordination meetings and external management meetings with key customers and with the Werfen companies.

Networking/Key relationships

This position requires cooperating with all the different company departments, such as R&D, QRA, Sales & Marketing, Finance and the other team members of the Operations group.

Minimum Knowledge & Experience required for the position:

  • Education:
    • Required:
      • Bachelor's degree (Licenciatura) in any related area with the business.
    • Valuable: 
      • Any additional degree higher than that required previously.
  • Experience:

    • Required:
      • Professional experience is required minimum of 7 years in a similar position.

     

  • Additional Skills/Knowledge:
    • Software: Proficiency in Office Tools (Excel & Word), and required advanced knowledge in SAP
    • Language: Fluency in Spanish or Catalan. Advanced knowledge of English (reading, writing and speaking).
    • Standards: Valuable knowledgeon ISO, GMP’s, FDA rules and Lean environments (Black Belt highly recommended)
    • Project management: Knowledge and experience in complex and multidisciplinary project management.
