Assessing key parameters for Immunoassays : Magnetic microparticles selection for a new assay development
October 11, 2023
Innovation is one of the strategic and fundamental Werfen pillars and we innovate at all levels, regarding biomaterials, assays, and manufacturing biotechnology processes. We aim to reinforce immunoassay know-how and technology capabilities, with the final objectives of increasing efficiency and robustness, reducing time to market, and streamlining operations
In Werfen, we enjoy, promote, and benefit from a unique network of scientists, entrepreneurs, and major players in the IVD sector allowing us to identify and incorporate the most innovative tools and technologies.
We work towards moving your immunoassay portfolio one step beyond.
Our Approach
When developing a new chemiluminescence immunoassay (CLIA), it is fundamental to define and characterize, from the very early stages of the project, the key parameters that will define the new product. This would allow for a reduction of both risk and time during the development while increasing product robustness.
Our approach is, to first understand the particle manufacturing process and characterizing the physicochemical properties, then to identify the critical coupling parameters and finally to have a deep understanding of the rest of the assay components.
Outcomes
Optimization of the coating and upscaling together with a better knowledge of the reagents, with a special focus on the magnetic particles, have resulted in a more robust product for a highly demanding IVD market.
